Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is Operation Live Free or Die?
Operation Live Free or Die is a grassroots effort to help ensure that the great State of New Hampshire -- the Live Free or Die State -- nominates Dr Ron Paul as the Republican candidate for the President of the United States.

  2. How do I get in contact with you?
If you are a volunteer and have questions about accommodation and travel to New Hampshire, call 603.509.4131 or email us.

  3. Why New Hampshire?
The Live Free or Die State
    Living Free in New Hampshire
New Hampshire is the first primary in the election and a strong result in it will have a snowball effect on Ron Paul's campaign. In 2004 John Kerry was polling in the low single-digits and a strong result in the first caucus instantly propelled him into the leading candidate for his party. Further, New Hampshire is an ideal first state for Ron Paul's campaign. The State's motto is "Live Free or Die" and the views of citizens of that state strongly align with Dr Paul's principles of freedom and limited government (for instance New Hampshire has no income tax or sales tax and less bureacracy than any other state). It is our job to make sure that New Hampshire citizens are aware of Dr Paul and have the chance to hear why his campaign is most compatible with the spirit of their great state.

  4. When is the New Hampshire Primary?
The date for the New Hampshire Primary has been set! The first major battle in the second Revolution to free our Republic will be decided on January 8th, 2008. I urge you to join me in marching on New Hampshire to spread Ron Paul's message of freedom, peace and prosperity!

  5. What plans do you have for campaigning in New Hampshire?
If we are able to gather a thousand dedicated supporters who can spend at least a week in New Hampshire before the primary we should be able to organize cavassing efforts in all the major cities of the State. I also propose that we hold three major rallies in the days before the primary. One in Concord, one in Portsmouth, and a final massive rally in Manchester (the largest city in the state). We need to make these events as fun as possible so we should begin brainstorming ideas such as bringing bands to the rallies and having a huge pot-luck lunch. We want to bring as many citizens of New Hampshire as possible together to hear the positive message of Dr Paul. We will also coordinate with the official campaign to make sure Dr Paul can be present at the bigger rallies.

  6. Won't it be costly?
The major costs will be transportation to New Hampshire and accomodation. To help people who can't afford to travel to New Hampshire, I've started a fund-raising effort to make sure that anyone who's enthusiastic about volunteering for Operation Live Free or Die can do so without worrying about cost.

I've also spoken to folks in the Free State Project and many of them have generously offered to house volunteers who're travelling to New Hampshire.

For Ron Paul supporters who do have the means to travel to New Hampshire there are other ways we can mitigate the costs of travel and accomodation. My early investigation suggests we can find rental homes an hour drive from the major cities that could hold 10 people and would cost about $1500 for a week (i.e., $150 per person for a week's accomodation). It may have a bit of a frat-house feel to it, but I think it will be a tremondously fun experience to camp out with other enthusiastic Ron Paul supporters, and travel around New Hampshire spreading a message we all believe is important.

  7. Shouldn't I just donate to the campaign?
Please donate as much money to the official campaign as you can. However, if you're passionate about having an impact "on the ground", in one of the most important primaries in the election, then please join us. It should be noted that campaign finance laws limit how much money you can donate to a campaign, and if you're maxed out, volunteering for Operation Live Free or Die gives you another avenue to help ensure that Ron Paul is our next President. The estimated value of a dedicated volunteer is about $500 a day, so if you're able to volunteer to help for 5 days, you've already contributed more than the $2300 campaign donation limit.

  8. Is Operation Live Free or Die associated with the offical Ron Paul campaign?
No, it is purely a grassroots effort.

  9. I can't come to New Hampshire, can I help the effort in other ways?
Absolutely. We'll need help with all sorts of organizing, including finding venues for rallies, calling voters in New Hampshire, and finding accomodation for volunteers. If you're willing to volunteer to help with these efforts that would be fantastic. It would also be a great help if you could tell your friends and fellow Ron Paul supporters about this website so we can reach our goal of bringing over a thousand of Ron's most enthusiastic supporters to New Hampshire.

  10. Who are you and why are you organizing this effort?
I want to write you a check
"I flew down here from our office in Seattle to hear you talk, and to write you a check."
My name is Vijay Boyapati and I'm an Engineer at Google. Some of you may remember me from the interview with Dr Paul at Google (skip to 42:31 in the interview - that's me). I'm the fellow that flew down from Seattle to hear Dr Paul talk and to write him a check. Seattle's local newspaper, The Stranger, wrote an article about my visit to Mountain View to see Dr Paul.

I'm organizing Operation Live Free or Die because I believe we have a chance, a real chance, of restoring our Republic to the principles on which it was founded. We have a chance to end the undeclared, unconstitutional, murderous War in Iraq and bring our troops home -- immediately. A chance of ending the government's theft of the fruits of our labor via the IRS. A chance to run our lives as we see fit without a bureaucrat in Washington telling us what we can and cannot do. For these reasons I want to do everything I can to restore freedom to our great country by electing Dr Ron Paul as President. I hope you will join me.

  11. Ok, I'm excited about volunteering, what should I do?
Fantastic! Firstly let me thank you for your dedication and the work I'm sure you've already done to spread Dr Paul's message of freedom, peace and prosperity in your local community. If you're committed to joining us in New Hampshire, please visit the volunteer page and sign up.
